About me
After spending 22 years in the pharmaceutical industry in regulatory affairs, QA and PV roles with companies such as Merck KGaA, Boehringer Ingelheim and Merck Sharp & Dohme, Lorraine Danks joined the South African medicines regulator, SAHPRA, in June 2020 to head up the organization’s Backlog Clearance Project. This was a dedicated project set up to clear an inherited application backlog, which was finalized through various reliance and risk-based review initiatives. Lorraine is currently a Senior Program Officer at the Gates Foundation, supporting medicines regulators in Africa, while also engaging in PhD research pertaining to regulatory systems strengthening practices, through the University of Hertfordshire, UK.
